Eric Getz has joined the lab on an early summer start to his Ph.D. student appointment through MBBO. Eric attended Virginia Tech and worked in Frank Aylward’s lab where he conducted a very interesting study on the pangenomics of the Marinimicrobia, a.k.a. SAR406. Most recently, he was working on an ORISE Fellowship at the CDC in Atlanta cataloging and verifying Clostridium botulinum cases, so he’s got culturing chops to pair with his bioinformatics skills. We also happen to know that Eric was a jazz vocalist in a previous life, so we’re looking forward to *hearing* more about that talent. Welcome to the lab and we’re excited to have you joining us Eric!
