Dr. Brittany Bennet joins us as a Postdoctoral Scholar on the Simons Foundation-funded project investigating growth rate limitation in SAR11. Prior to USC, Brittany did a postdoc with Ned Ruby at the University of Hawai’i, Mānoa researching the Vibrio fischeri/Hawaiian bobtail squid symbiosis. Her most recent paper on the genetics of that relationship was recently published in mBio. Brittany did her Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota with Jeffrey Gralnick where she examined multiple facets of iron metabolism in Shewanella oneidensis.
